Our Technologies

At Regatta, we have over 42 years' experience in developing innovative outdoor fabrics and technologies, giving you the best all year-round performance, weather protection and comfort from head-to-toe. It’s what we do best, which is why we have created a helpful guide outlining all of the technologies used in our products, helping you find the perfect product for your environment and activity.

Waterproofs

Designed to keep you dry and comfortable outdoors, Isotex technology is waterproof, windproof and breathable. It is our main form of waterproof protection applied to our waterproof jackets, waterproof trousers and walking footwear. Being a high performing treatment, Isotex keeps the water out, whilst the hydrophilic breathability system allows any trapped moisture vapour on the inside to escape. Isotex technology uses a hydrostatic head, beginning at a rating of 3000mm and ranging all the way up to 15,000mm. Isotex products also include taped seams inside the garment – sealing the deal on waterproofing and increasing protection from the elements.

Perfect for keeping dry and protected in changeable weather with advanced comfort.

ISOFLEX fabric is ideal for high energy outdoor activities with a quick dry, water repellent finish and active fit stretch yarns for greater comfort and movement, ensuring you always perform your best. Within the same technology group, ISOFLEX+ allows you to achieve ultimate stretch performance, thanks to new generation polyester yarns. The innovative spiral structure provides durability, stretch and soft touch comfort. The fibres in Isoflex+ are also much more environmentally friendly, meaning you can shop knowing you are buying responsibly. Isoflex+ features mainly in our range of mid layers and trousers, providing plenty of comfort and ease of movement for those all-important outdoor pursuits.

Perfect for high energy outdoor activities through active stretch fabric.

Isolite fabrics have waterproof and wind resistant properties, and offer the same stalwart protection as Isotex, but with the added benefit of being lightweight. This means moisture vapour is able to escape, thanks to the Hydrophilic backed coating applied during the manufacturing process, ensuring maximum breathability.

Isolite 5000 fabric has a hydrostatic head of 5000mm, designed to keep you dry and warm outdoors. Isolite and Isolite 5000 items are also generally easier to pack away or carry along in a rucksack, without compromising on any of the quality water prevention and heat distribution technology.

The water repellent finish works hand in hand with other waterproof aspects of the garment, meaning water beads off as soon as it hits to give additional protection. It stops the outward facing fabric wetting out, becoming heavy, cold and generally uncomfortable. The breathability properties ensure the wearer is comfortable and can keep cool while undergoing their outdoor pursuits.

Perfect for keeping you dry and comfortable all-day outdoors

Similar to other technologies in our range, garments engineered with Regatta’s Hydrafort fabrics are both waterproof and windproof and will see off rainfall with ease. Although not breathable, the Hydrafort range is designed to keep you dry and comfortable outdoors and provide reliable shielding from the elements whatever the weather.

Hydrafort also uses taped seams to keep moisture at bay and ensure you are protected on your journey, as well as additional DWR treatment to allow water to bead off the product when wet. So, on those days you find yourself caught in the rain, you’ll be glad to have your Hydrafort jacket.

Perfect for keeping the rain locked out on all your adventures.

Softshell fabrics have water repellent and wind resistant properties to keep you warm, while are also designed to provide maximum mobility and comfort to the user. Softshells are usually made up of woven fabric, which given its tight weaving, is naturally great at stopping wind. Additionally, Regatta’s softshells have been treated with water repellent coating high level of water repellency , perfectly bridging the gap between a fleece and a coat. Softshell jackets are a comfortable choice, providing excellent protection.

Crafted from lightweight and water-resistant materials, our Softshell XPT range is ideal for showery conditions. As products in this range have a membrane bonded to the inner layer, the fabric is waterproof and windproof, and paired with DWR treatment, fends off the rain with ease. Though the range doesn’t feature taped seams, this technology enables excellent performance and breathability whilst the lightweight qualities give greater ease of movement.

Insulation

Made up of synthetic fibres which trap the air keeping you warm in cold conditions, Thermoguard products also have quick drying properties and are easy to care for. Thermoguard technology is soft and light with the warmth coming from the high loft insulation sheet and features heavily in our popular range of waterproof jackets. By combining Thermoguard with some of our waterproof technologies, we can produce some of the most versatile and technologically advanced outdoor wear available.

Composed of synthetic down touch insulating technology, Warmloft insulation is highly compressible and soft to touch, without the bulk. While providing warmth and comfort, this fabric is also water repellent, quick drying and can keep you warm when wet; the perfect protection against ever-changing conditions. For elevated levels of comfort and enhanced cosiness when you need it most, Warmloft is what you need to look out for when shopping for water repellent puffer and baffle style jackets.

Kinder, versatile and smarter – we are proud to say that our insulation is made from recycled plastic bottles and uses no animal products. Featured in our range of jackets, this premium synthetic insulation has a candyfloss like appearance, composed of different particles that spray in all directions and are highly effective in capturing and holding in heat. Jackets that feature Feather Free fill dry quickly, insulate even when wet and offer warmth without the bulk, so you won’t feel weighed down while exploring the outdoors. The warmth to weight ratio is what makes the difference with this insulation, as it creates a warmer product at a lighter weight and is more compressible, perfect for when you’re tight on space or packing for away trips.

An added safety element of this technology is that by replacing traditional earphones with built in hood sound technology, you can still hear surroundings while listening – so any oncoming traffic or rustling in the woods won’t take you by surprise.

Heated

Another branch of our wearable technology is the highly innovative Heat Tech. Heat Tech consits of battery powered heat technology built into some of our most technical outdoor jackets, keeping you warm wherever your adventure takes you. Our waterproof and breathable heated jackets feature battery powered heat zones, with up to 3 temperature settings one or multiple heat zones throughout. These jackets work similarly to heated blankets and heated car seats - the back of some jackets is lined with an electronically powered copper heating zone, powered by a battery pack which sits within an inside pocket Other Heat Tech jackets have 3 panels (one back panel and 2 side pocket panels) which are more advanced as they include a button on inside of the jacket allowing you to change settings and control the temperature.
